Australia, February 26, 2007 - Activision recently announced that it has licensed the Unreal Engine 3 from Epic Games for an unannounced action game. “The Unreal Engine is one of the most technically advanced engines on the market and is a perfect fit for our upcoming action game,” commented Laird Malamed, head of production for Activision. “The engine’s robust suite of programming tools will enable our development team to deliver what is sure to be an amazing game experience.”
Activision join an ever growing roster of developers and publishers utilising the engine, further emphasising just how important Epic’s technology will be to this generation of videogames. Square Enix also signed on recently, while other titles on the horizon powered by Unreal Engine 3 include BioShock, Huxley, Mass Effect, Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway, Stranglehold, Medal of Honor: Airborne, Too Human and, of course, Unreal Tournament 3. To name a few. No details were given on the Activision game in question, but we’re sure it won’t be too long before we find out.
