Bomb kills four near Iraq factory

Car bomb that exploded in Iraq

Car bombs are constantly used in Iraq

At least four people have been killed in a bomb attack outside a factory south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. The bomb went off in Iskandariya, a centre of the anti-US insurgency. The number of wounded is not confirmed.

It is thought the bomb was planted in a car which exploded when a bus filled with workers was passing.

The attack comes a day after the results of the US military’s quarterly report on Iraq, which said sectarian violence was Iraq’s greatest threat.

A US Military spokesman Maj Gen William Caldwell said, “there has been an over 50% reduction in murders and executions”.

However, car bombs continue to pose a major threat to security in Baghdad and surrounding areas, the military said.

Police reports say the Thursday’s explosion happened outside one of the few factories still operating in Iraq
